In this time of the Coronavirus

Our staff at St. John's has met virtually to discuss how we can keep our congregation safe during this time.  We have decided that we will worship on line this Sunday and will take each week as it comes.  We are still trying to design some safe Palm Sunday and Easter but that is also a work in progress.  For the meantime, until we are sure that you and your families are safe we will not be holding Godly Play.
BUT,  Godly Play is designed to be a wonderful experience for you and your family to use together in your home.  Although you do not have the manipulatives you DO HAVE THE STORIES!  Godly Play Foundation a few years created (originally as a training tools) a You Tube channel with many of our stories there for you to use.
You don't need to do anything but watch with your children and ask them questions about what they heard, what they think, what was their favorite part, etc. and because they are familiar with these questions you can have a great family discussion!
Below is a listing of some of the stories that are appropriate for the Lenten season and the story that begins Lent is below: The Mystery of Easter, but there are many more available.

Please note: There are many nonaffiliated videos using Godly Play please just use the ones from the Godly Play Foundation.

Children's Ministry
@ St. John's

Lives of the modern family are so busy and full. Work, School, and Family commitments can overwhelm a family, leaving little time for other involvements. We understand this and are committed to working with you to bring Christ into that full, busy life, so that you and your family can find strength, comfort, and renewal in your Christian faith and in a Christian community. St. John's is a resource for your family's faith journey needs.

St. John's Children's Ministry leaders are here to help assist you, your child's primary Christian faith teacher, by fostering an environment in which your child can learn and explore what the Christian faith means to them as an individual, as a member of a faithful family and as part of a faith community.  Children have the opportunity to hear the stories of our heritage, to discuss what these stories mean in their lives today, and to actively live out their faith through worship and outreach activities appropriate for their age and developmental stage.

If you would like more information or you have a question please feel free to contact the office @ 860-379-3062 or email Linda L. Snyder, Director of Children and Family Ministry@ llsnyders4@charter.net

Children and Worship
Children are members of the body of Christ.  Without them in our worship one piece is missing.  We welcome all children to join us in worship!

Talking to Children and Youth at times of Tragedy

It is very hard to know just how to talk with children about violence and tragedies in our country and the world.  Many times it seems that the intense level of media coverage with graphic pictures and discussions can be overwhelming.  Below are a few links with suggestions on how to address a tragedy with children and youth.
